![]() ![]() The only true fix to this if you want to run more water volume and NOT have it drive you mad crazy would be to look into the Herbie overflow system or the variant of it known as Bean Animal which needs more holes drilled and is a cross between durso and Herbie in ways. The toilet flushing effect sound is when you are pushing more flow than the Durso can handle so the water level rises and the durso becomes a full siphon temporarily UNTIL the siphon pulls the water level back down as it drains faster like this and the Air gets sucked back into the durso pipe causing the suction of the full siphon to break leaving you with the toilet flush then gurgle again. Gurgling sound may possibly be from your overflow pipes in the sump, Are you getting a lot of bubbles out of the drain pipes ? Raising the water level in the overflow box will cure the water fall noise though it will not cure the gurgle sound or toilet flushing sound you are hearing as this is common with this style overflow. ![]() Of course pipe size is a factor for water volume being moved and noise in either direction but you can use hour durso and just dial the pump to what it can handle at an acceptable level of noise. ![]() If you can not forgo this route due to not enough holes in the tank or you are not willing to put your return line over the back of the tank and use the holes in the overflow you can stick with the durso style but not without some or alot of noise.ĭurso from my experience is loud especially when you get to moving water through it beyond 400 gph. This utilizes one full siphon and one emergency that is dry for the most part and sits right at the water height elevated in the overflow box in the unlikely but possible event your main full siphon drain gets clogged the emergency will keep the tank from overflowing and be loud enough you will be notified of an issue. Herbie over flow drain systems are dead silent and give you much control over the splash noise or water fall noise going over your weirs of the overflow box itself by being able to raise the water level in the overflow box to 1/2 inch under the weirs/ teeth. So now I am thinking I need to make the stand pipe either longer or shorter, not sure witch, any idea on what I need to be doing here? What I did to cure it, which didnt work, if you ask me, it made it worse, was to increase the M1 pump to 23%, my thinking was, put more water from the sump into the display tank, pushing more water into the overflow box, increasing the water level in the overflow box, causing the water dropping noise to decrease, this seemed like it made it worse, My problem is this, I think I am getting a water noise as water goes into the overflow box, dropping down to the water level in the box. I put the new M1 pump into the sump as my new return pump, my old pump wasn't putting a lot of return flow into my display tank, even though I first had the M1 set at 21 %, it apparently was more return flow that I was putting into the display from the old pump. I need some advice, this may sound confusing, it is to me lol & I am not sure what direction I need to go to fix it, I have a Durso type of pipe in my overflow box, it also has a small hole drilled into the top of it, ![]()
